PARKS & RECREATION
Corn Fest
Corn Fest has come and gone for the 30th year! Overall, the event was a huge success with over 6,500 attendees, and our Parks & Recreation staff would like to send a big THANK YOU the vendors, volunteers, patrons, and our Maintenance team for helping to make it such a successful event. We would also like to thank Hauser and Hauser Farms for always supporting this event along with all the other community support they provide. We are looking for feedback from the community regarding this event. If you attended Corn Fest, please complete this brief survey to provide us with your feedback. Here is the link for the survey: https://polco.us/s8682q
There were 9,600 ears of corn shared during the event through the fresh and roasted corn sales! We had 13 non-profits plus 71 additional vendors who participated this year. Kiwanis of Camp Verde raised $1,200 for the fresh corn sales and Verde Villages raised $400 for running the dunk tank. We are also excited to find out how much was raised for our local Senior Center by Hyundai of Cottonwood at the Ride and Drive event that they hosted in the Town Hall parking lot. We do know that Hyundai was happy with the turn-out.
The Visitor Center was open and had 193 visitors, a large increase from year’s past. The Historic Jail was also open and had a steady stream of inquisitive guests.
The kids craft/activity area in Room 305 ran out of crafts with over 150 kids stopping by to be creative. We have never run out of crafts before!
Arizona Flywheelers were a big hit again this year and had a blast talking about their tractors and flywheels.
This year’s change in hours was beneficial to the Verde Valley Farmer’s Market, who reported that they had their highest attendance ever. This is also such a great tie into the event, as our goal is to promote all of the agricultural products grown locally, not just the corn.

We are so very excited for our first ever Dive In Movie Night being held on Friday, July 25th at the pool. The movie is Moana 2 and will start at 7:45. Cost for entry will be $5 per person. UTILITIES
WATER DIVISION
Water Operators have been focused on completing cleanup efforts from the previous week’s leaks. Backfilling and asphalt repairs are nearly finished, with only two remaining road crossings to complete the replacement of leaking service lines. In conjunction with these efforts, operators are also potholing utilities in the Fort River Caves neighborhood to support the ongoing design work for a future water main replacement project.
Additionally, at Verde River Estates, operators responded promptly to an issue with the chlorine injector pump. A backup pump was installed to ensure continuous chlorination to maintain safe water quality levels for the community.
STORMWATER DIVISION
Patty Mancini (Stormwater Specialist), recently authored and submitted a Growing Water Smart grant application to the Sonoran Institute to fund the replacement of high-flow fixtures with low-water-use alternatives across all Town facilities, as recommended in the EcoBlue Audit Evaluation.
