There is still time to reserve your spot for the 16th annual Native and Wild Trout Conference scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (MST) Thursday, April 17, at the Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters at 5000 W. Carefree Highway in Phoenix.

The conference is free, but keep in mind that seating is limited and pre-registration is required by April 8. Register here.

The conference is open to those interested in learning the current and future status of native and wild trout in Arizona and New Mexico. Our mission is to spark the interest of developing plans to promote, restore and manage these native and wild coldwater fish species.

The conference offers the opportunity to meet, network, and develop plans to promote restoration and management of native and wild coldwater fish species in Arizona and New Mexico. More than 110 individuals attended the 2024 conference and represented more than 25 agencies and organizations involved in water conservation and management, trout recovery and habitat enhancement.

Agenda items include:

  • Apache trout delisting and recovery
  • Gila trout recovery challenges and plans
  • Aquatic invasive species
  • Management and restoration plans (including Chase Creek, Dude Creek, Horton Creek, and Lees Ferry)
  • Events and legislation affecting conservation
  • Arizona trout challenge
  • Conservation awards for distinguished service
  • Hosted lunch
